Default TA22 idler arm bushing replacement

Need to replace the main idler arm bushing in my TA22. Having trouble getting the old bushing out of the housing in the arm. Anyone got any tips on how this is done (with minimum swearing and barked knuckles)? Would no doubt be easier with the arm removed from the car, but getting the lower ball-joint free seems to require a joint puller or some other special tool (which I don't have) and it looks like the bushings should be doable in-situ with just the upper mounting bracket removed (which is easy done). From the look of the replacement bushing (http://www.whiteline.com.au/product_..._number=W11081) - it looks like they are designed to just drop into the housing (top & bottom), but mine seem pretty stuck in there. Need to do this for rego otherwise I'd get Pedders onto the job.

you dont need a ball joint puller for anything really, just a well aimed all your body weight behind it mega whack with a hammer, if you putting in new ball joints put the ball joint bolt back on so it sits flush with the bolt and hit the feck outta it downwards, i had to do this on a s13 silvia with a hobby hammer (i tiny little one) it was gay. My ball joints on my 22 just fell out after i undone the bolts , also to get the outta tie arm out from the socket, hit the housing in which the outta arm joint sits in, make sure you have the bolt on so the hammer doesnt miss and hit the threads. Now you gotta really hit it a tonne of times for it to come out, and you gotta hit it really hard, just dont miss! as for bushes i had a 20 tonne press to help, but a vice and a right size cylinder piece of metal will help push the buch out and vice versa.

    have fun!
