Don't 4age's run the same timing gear?
Hi everyone,
I need to get a replacement idler pulley for my 4agze, as the bearing on my existing one is rooted. Anyone know if there is an equivalent pulley from other car that I can use?
Thanks

I don't think normal 4age use the same idler pulley. 4agze got two rather large pulley one to keep tension on the supercharger and the other for the alternator/aircon.Originally Posted by Dale
Solution:
- Take pulley to your local "CBC" shop (consolidated bearing co.).
- Get a new bearing from CBC
- Get old bearing pressed out
- Get new bearing pressed in
- ????
- profit.

Oh yep, I thought you meant the idler pulley behind the timing caseOriginally Posted by Tom86

teh karls on the money, will cost you less than $30 then you got a new one.
I didn't think they're the type where you can press the bearing out and replace them, have anyone seen what they look like?. Anyway got a few people saying that they have spare pulley. So I'll try my luck with them first.
Thanks
The bearing in the centre of the pulley can be pressed out and replaced. It's a really simple process and will cost about $30 as mentioned above.
MUCH better option than going for another 2nd hand one - i have actually seen an idler pulley come flying off an AE92 SX on a cruise once. It ended up in the Nepean River - and the driver lost his power steering and aircon.

Just bumping this thread because I have the same issue. I have an ae92 afm 4agze and the idler pulley is very different to the 4age one and doesn't look like the bearing can be pressed out. I even took it to the local CBC place and the guy said it looked like a sealed unit.
show us a pic. i think it can be changed.
I've got a couple of spares that have good bearings. PM me if you're interested.

Here's a pic I found, not mine, but the pulley I'm talking about is identical to number 5.

The #4 pulley (which is the SC idler) is very similar to a (VR/VS?) commodore idler pulley, especially if you need a slightly smaller one to go with your NEVO pulley. They can be had new for about $30.

Thanks to James Cameron's Terminator films, we know that robots are stronger, faster, tougher and more Austrian than the rest of us.
I replaced my Nevo Tensioner bearing the other day. Its an NSK 6300 insealed bearing.
I have the same kind of tensioner pulley for both the alternator and s/c. Will I be able to use the smaller commodore one if I don't have a NEVO?
