    Default 4age Into Ae71

    Hey guys,
Im planning to put my fwd 4AGE engine into my AE71 after i get my tax return LOL.
Im planning to use the 4AGE belts, pullys, alternator and compresser.
I know i need to get manifold cut n shut and extractors.
Im wondering what coolant hoses, housings, A/C pipes, wireing mods and any other little costs or parts i need to get?

    Cheers Jack

If you do a search on the forums both the new ones(this one) or the old ones for either ke70 ae71 or ae86 (sprinter) you should find a heap of usefull info for your application. Phrostbite(R.i.p) had a 4age corolla and theres a few full conversion write ups. Search and you will find.

    Cheers mate,
Ive read most of those articles, im just looking for something a bit more specific.
So i can go down to repco with a list of hoses and and stuff instead of having to match things up.

You shouldn't need to go to repco, when I did my FWD to RWD conversion I used cut up pieces of the FWD water hoses and some of my original 4AC RWD water hoses and managed to get it to all fit sweet. The only thing you should go out and buy is new hose clamps!
If you don't have the original FWD water pipes, or you want to make sure you have some extras if you make mistakes then take a trip out to the wrecker and just grab a handfull off other cars and cut them up to fit!
As long as you read the tech article on the old forum you will be sweet, just do what I did and print out the pictures in the article so u can go off them when you are cutting and fitting the hoses and mounting the remote thermostat.
    Good Luck!

Don't forget my FAQ thread.... i never finished it (keep forgetting), but it does have all the info you need on the thermostat and water lines, and covers the intake manifold part pretty well.

It's such a simple conversion really.

it is very easy, the hardest part is the wiring which itself is pretty simple anyway.

    oh shuttup you!!

I'd finish them if i didnt keep working on someone elses car or my celica!! It takes a shitload of time collecting pictures, cross referencing, and writing a guide that covers so many aspects - there's a thousand things i just take for granted now that 3 years ago i hardly wouldve known about. It's hard to remember to write them all!

Plus... you dont want to see my wiring notes!!!

    Hi,

Good lad Wizty-babes. I'm interested in upgrading the 4AC in the AE71.... though I'm looking hard at the 7AFE.

    River,

The 7afe would not be a wise choice - it has too much crap that comes out the back of the head which would require some rather George Clooney-esque/ER sort of surgery to be performed on the firewall.
You have the dissy/ignition assy, water outlets and all sorts coming out the back of it.

If you are worried about becoming a hoon - dont fret it. The 4age was as easy to drive nice and sedately as it was to drive wringing its neck. If you use a slightly smaller exhaust and more restrictive muffler it would even sound quiet too
