I'm pretty sure the coil is integrated with the distributor. A lot of FE series engines are set up like that. The terminals for the coil should be in that fat plug that plugs in the bottom. Alternatively try the '-Ig' terminal in your diagnosis connector instead of connecting directly to the coil?
Your coil is quite likely built inside the distributor,
with a standard vacuum advance. Only four leads
coming out from the cap confirms this. It's usually
a transformer-type coil, since an oil-filled coil
obviously is too big.
Later model Japanese engines, usually those
made after the mid-90's, such as the Mitsubishi
ones in the Proton Sagas in Malaysia, typically
have a "three-in-one" type of distributor, i.e.
with the ignitor, coil and electronic advance
built inside. In more expensive cars, the electronic
advance is regulated by the engine management
computer, I think.
It most definitly is inside the dizzy thats why you cant see it on the outside.
cheers Brett.
It IS inside your dizzy cap... I wonder how long you ppl will debate on this. Just look inside and you can see it truelly is there![]()
