Hi wagon,
congrats on choosing such a fine car for the conversion. i have an AE95 myself, with a 20v in it. i also do lots of off road/snow driving, and this car eats it all up.
i noticed that you want to raise your suspension, great idea, but keep in mind your independent front end, and the angle which you'll have your CV joints running at.
Of all the work i did to my ae95, the best thing i did was to put king springs and KYB shocks on all fours. the car sticks like s*!t to a blanket on road, and when i go off road, it handles amazingly. I have had it sideways moving pretty quickly down dirt tracks with ease. they are actually a very well balanced wagon.
i am now starting to get itchy feet, and looking into the possibility of putting a turbo on the car to match the engine. my main issue is how to mount the intercooler, while keeping the car completely stock looking from outside. i don't wanna go cutting holes in bonnets and stuff, cause i park my car all over the place, and i dont want bad attention coming to it.
here's a few pics of some of my travels
btw... there ARE some bling/performance parts available for the AE95.
The one I would love, but just can't justify(98000 yen).... Fujitsubo LegalisR exhaust!!![]()

There is also a header available...US company Pacesetter... (frequently junk, but in this case may be better than other options)
Specs: 1 3/8"(35mm) OD primaries into a 2" OD collector. I don't know the Pacesetter primaries length. I would remove the "ball socket" and replace it with a stainless flex section

Would you believe I saw one of these fujitsubo exhaust systems on a AE95wagon in a wreckers.
Only I didn't know what it was, all I knew was it was different than what I had, I took the extractors from up the front, not realising I should've been grabbing the whole lot!

Thanks Marty - cool pics mate. Looks like you have a similar lifestyle to me.
I've recently bought a whole new set of bushhes. I know the front end is a bit limited in how far it can be raised but the aim is to go for as much lift as I can get & also opt for more of stiff/rally style suspension set up than road.
It's already been done on an AE95- I want to run this idea by an engineer:
http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic...an-ae95-wagon/
I would also consider getting a custom sway bar fabbed up & this is what I want to run on the back:
http://www.polyair.com.au/
+ 25mm larger overall diameter wheels, which is the maximum diameter above factory that I'm allowed to go in the state of Victoria
Much wider 14's or 15's that I can get a readily available all-terrain or snow/mud tyre for without getting too far away from a good aspect ratio.
I'm happy to have more lift on the rear & that old school rake appearance - It should level out a bit when loaded up with camping/fishing gear ( & a cooler full of beer)

No oil squirters is correct in the bigport engines.
As for the ceramic pistons, the smallport MAP 4AGZE definitely has ceramic coating, but I'm not 100% sure on the Bigport 4AGZE. I think it may be lacking the ceramic coating IIRC.
The smallport pistons also offer a slightly higher compression, so if you are looking at replacing your existing pistons, I'd be going for the smallport items.
I actually bought some ceramic coated pistons (& rods) today, given that my engine had only done 85k & was caked in black oil I felt fairly confident that it hadn't been re-bored but when I got there the guy had the block that came with the pistons all stripped down acid washed & painted we got to talking & he sold it to me for $150 with a whole bunch of other stuff he was going to part out on ebay.
Oil cooler component, 2 x more DLI coils & leads, starter motor, water pipe, which was good coz mine had a ding in it, etc etc..
So now I've got the bottom end I want.
Also bought this which should help when it comes to dropping out the engine:

Now I just have to overhaul my entire garage into a workshop.
Photo's soon.

Does anyone know what the cam degrees are in my 1st gen 4AGZE bigport?
...& what might be a suitable upgrade?
As the super charger takes care of the lower rev range I'm thinking more about how the engine will run naturally aspirated in the higher rev range.
Been looking at calculators lately for determining intake pipe sizes & I'm just wondering where I can find all the specs that are required about my particular engine to put into the calculator.
like cam degrees, redline etc.
please take a look:
http://dairally.net/daihard/chas/Mis...s/DaiPipes.htm
I'll be using the bottom end from another 7 rib block that has the squirters & ceramic piston heads.
I've been told this will change my compression ratio from 8:1 to 8.9:1
Also gonna use a sc14 & will keep the magnetic clutch so I'm trying to find info on what rev range the clutch should be set to kick in & shut off.
If anyone can offer some info that would help expand my understanding in these areas I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks

early 4AGZE should be using the later type 16V cam....

Hey dude those pics look beautiful - I get some of it but what I'm looking for is the degree number of my cams

Do the math, the pics show the duration.
For instance the early inlet, 9degrees before TDC to 51 degrees after BDC.... so 9 + 180 + 51 = 240 degrees
The smallport/late/gze is shorter duration at 232 degrees.
Bigports have a slightly larger lift also with 7.56mm compared to the smallport/gze cams with 7.1mm
Cheers again Dangdang. Maths was never my strong point but once again you explain things easily & my fairly new interest in cars definitely exercises the ole grey matter.
Cheers mate

Damnit. Now I'm looking at getting one of these damn 4wd Corollas. I found a cheap one near work and I'm seriously considering buying it for a second car.....

TerraOp: hahahaaa no waaay mate! I can't believe you man?!!!
I really wouldn't pick U going for one of these, I mean you're into fast 101's & doing air flow/pressure testing on jeeps wtf would you bother with one of these for??
If you do ..... I suggest you give it a bit of a thrash ...
- as a basic platform that shares it's alltrac drive train with the early 90's world rally winning celica GT4 I think you'll find the potential I'm aiming to expand upon.
IMO toyota could've put a more powerful engine in these & they'd have a different rep all together.
I think another reason people don't rate ae95's is coz they confuse it with it's predecessor 'the tercel' which had a drivetrain like a tooth pick
