More progress-Firewall back in which helps complete the bay.

Still lots of bits to 'black out' like behind the grill, the water pipes in the engine bay, mesh on front bar to hide the cooler etc etc.

I seem to knock off 3 jobs but add 4 in the same session

All guages now working, except for the tacho-I need to find out what wire colour for the tacho wire from the old ECU-if anyone can find that info for me, i'd really appreciate it.

Not really for sale (yet). In saying that if i had the right offer, i'd let it go tomorrow. I enjoy the challenge of building them more than owning them.

Id think Mercedes Benz would be envious with what you've created there, best of everything !

    Hi Guys,

After Glen doing all the hard work, I'm the lucky new custodian of this girl and hope Glen doesn't mind if I update the thread with the final few bits and pieces.

She has a miss at idle and won't come on boost under load (up to 2-3psi with a very feathered throttle). Glen had advice it may have been the modified throttle body requiring a reset on the TPS. I spent a few hours yesterday with the ohmeter but an adjustment of the TPS just seemed to 'move' the curve of where the miss/ignition cut is coming from (By a few hundred rpm).

I've seen this problem on another forum but no solution as yet. Can anyone point me in the direction other than the TPS to make sure we've isolated it. Either that or a good aristo ecu expert in Brisbane (Auto sparky or just general legend will do!)

    OEM ECU? no error codes?

adjusting TPS will only alter fuel/ignition correction related to throttle % opening, or if you change it too much, never triggers IDL switch (does not trigger idle condition).

crap ground connections will also cause strange issues.

Also check critical sensors that determine injection pulse width (or rather, volumetric efficiency if its OEM ECU):
    * MAP sensor (should be ~2.63V at 100kPA abs)
    * IAT & ECT temperature sensor. should be ~2600 ohms (disconnected) at 25C.

I do know that the ignitor module can partially fail (error code 12 13 or 14 I think). To isolate this, remove the ignition connector from each cylinder until it doesn't change idle. I've done this successfully to isolate an ignition problem (aftermarket ECU with one failed ignition output pin)

One guy I know had strange issues with his 1JZ... happened after he changed the timing belt - missed a tooth!

    DIAG connector on engine:

TE1 to ground - TEST MODE (engine check light) - this is the one you want.
TE2 to ground - OBD-like MODE, requires custom interface to read this data.

the engine check light will blink with either long then short (or short then long) pulses. one for first digit, second for second digit. And then a gap. I am not 100% sure if it will return multiple codes.

    code 14 is ignitor failure.

Or if all else fails, use the remove one ignition connector at a time method, if the source of the problem is before the ignitor (ECU or wiring specific to ignition)

Hey Damian, feel free to continue this thread mate.

As per BK_s advice-definately check grounds. I did miss one initially which would not allow it to run at all. But fixed that and all good.

Does the ignitor need to be grounded-If so it is just tucked near the airbox-So that may help...

I think off the ECU-Al had wired the check eng wires-not sure if my auto elec had wired them up or not-if not a test light connected to them will help out.

Injectors were cleaned-so they can be ruled out of troubleshooting....

    Cheers Glen

@BK_ Idle is fine too and idle control valve is still there.

Connected wastegate lines, she's running up to 8psi ok now and driveable. Does the stock ecu need time to learn the new turbo? Only went round the block but it seemed to get better as we drove on.

The miss isn't single cylinder so I think it might now be time for the bigger fuel pump as ignitors would be single cylinder miss wouldn't they?
