I've heard the RA60/65 thing too. Maybe worth investigating to at least confirm/deny it?
so i go to order my pedal box and.... FAIL
pedal box, pedal and spring are no longer available. all the other little bushes and what not are available but not the three crucial parts!
i tried GX81 and also LX80 (which are different part numbers).
so.... is there anything that is really close. im sure there are a lot of clutch pedals that can be made to fit. by close i mean filing out a hole or hitting something with a hammer. cutting and welding is NOT close. if you have to cut and weld then you may as well be using any old part you can find in your pile of shit in the back of the shed.
sooo
ma70/jza70 - seems that its used but not that close as it has to be cut and welded then mucked around with some more.
ra65 - i read a post a while back about these fitting without any drilling or nothing. a direct fit. i would believe this for a mx73 but mx83 doesnt seem logical as they should be very differnt chassis unlike the surpa which is surposed to be based on thee cressida platform or vice vera.
im wanting the whole car to look as stock and if 'it came like that' as possible for engineering so a crooked blobby mess that i would do with a custom pedal isnt so ideal.

not sure about ra60, another thread on here said 'it was a good base to start from' but also sounded like it had to be chopped up to fit.
if ra65 DID fit, then surely that would make ma61, mz10 fit as from the firewall back ra65 is surposedly the same as ma61 and im quite sure that ma61 is the same as mz10... and mz10/ma61 fit mx73.
just mx83 is the next gen of chassis so it doesnt seem logical.

Well that sucks...
I have heard that JZX90 is the closest fit apart from genuine X8 items. Not sure what needs to be done to make it fit though.
Also, I would look at JZA80/JZZ30 as the master cylinders are suitable to use on the X8 (bolt spacing and correct angle) so you at least have 2 out of 3 bolt holes lining up from the start.
I have a RA60 pedal. It's pretty close. You just need to weld a tube to the top bolt hole to give it some extra support.
MX83 Grande 1jz GT35R buildup here.

Some say that his heart has 6 cylinders. All we know, is he's called,
mr1jz, do you have any pics?
i thought MA70/JZA70 was the one???
seems that those that have used them have had to chop and weld then had further travel issues.
You can use an A70, some washers (or weld some tube to space it out if you can), put longer studs in the MC and lengthen the pushrod... but you still need to redrill the holes in the firewall.
While it's not ideal... it does the job and isn't to hard to fab up.
Ideally I reckon get something with the correct bolt spacing for the MC from the word go and it would be a lot simpler.
I am the sun
okay well i guess ill just get a ma70 clutch pedal then
on a slightly seporate note, which clutch master gives the best rear turbo clearance (2jz with stock twins in mx83)? the traditional 'pot' style or the 'long neck' as found on jza0, jzz30, jzx100 etc...?
i seem to recall someone mentioning the 'long neck' type of cylinder for better clearance, but the actual cylinder length looks to protude futher forward?

The angle of the bolts for the A70 pedal box wont suit the Z30/A80 master cylinder so I wouldnt use them together.
Like I said, give the Z30/A80 or X90/100 a go first as at least the master cylinder will suit the factory bolt holes in the X8 so you only need to worry about the top support. And I know a member on the cressida forums used a JZA80 MC with his factory twin 2JZ and although it was close, it cleared. He only needed to reshape the heat shield to make it fit.
Otherwise, wait for a set of X8 pedals to come up in Japan since you do seem to have a bit of time before you need to do the conversion.
unfortunately i dont have much time at all. ill be back in aus in less then a fortnight (>_<). ive only seen one pedal box on yaho (i cheack for parts i want/need and dont need ever 2nd day).
need car to get job, need money to finish car. its a crappy cycle!!
that does actually make quite a bit of sense mate, if the bolt patern is the same then that means that i can put the pedal into the correct spot in relation to the angle, swing and leverage. then when its in there i could just chop off with the grinder anything that fouls on around it etc. the next issue will be will the pedal ling up. will it be too far left/right forward/back etc etc, swing of the pedal hit the tunnle/firewall. i guess ill just have to cross that bridge when i come to it.
thanks for the imput big_zop. hopefully i can get it before i leave +rep![]()
Have a look in my thread, there should be pics of how my master cyl goes for clearance both with stock twins and with big single. Mine has a heatshield as well.
edit: On an unrealted note i just realised that i forgot to reply to your PM, (at least i think it was you?) - i no longer have a source for an r154, so my w58 will have to stay for now![]()

is there a reason you havent tried JZX81?
