12R block dowels?

howdy guys, im building a 12R for a mate, got the engine back from the workshop and have started assembling it.
however im up to putting the head on, and theres no dowels on either the head or block.
i dont remember seeing any, but its quite possible the engine shop pulled them out as they have faced the decks of the block and head.

anyone got one apart atm that could check if they have them, and where they go? or better yet, a few pics would be great.

checked my spare 12r,no dowels in head or block.
the bolt holes in the block for the head are theaded all the way to the deck.and could not see any other locations of where they might go.

i might cut the heads off a few old head bolt and use em to line up head and gasket
