1ggte earth cable - its not connected!? Were to connect?

Hey everyone, i just found a thick black cable that appears to connect onto the block (or somewhere under the inlet manifold) and its not connected anywhere else. Im guessing this is an earth cable (sorry if its a stupid question). Should it connect to the chassis or to the battery or something? Cheers!

if you don't have one going from the battery to the chassis, the one coming from the block needs to be connected back to the chassis.

its exact location is bolted onto the engine mount if i remember correct.. which then just goes to the body..
