Default extractors on 22r carby motor

I am about to put extractors on a 22r carby motor but have a question
the exhaust side of the head has two pipes that direct hreat to the other sode of the engine presumable to prehat air for cold starts
the extracters do not cater for this and block off the outllets from the head where the pipes attach
I gather if I just remove the pipes that is all I need to do and the fittings on the inlet side don't have to be blanked off
    thanks for any response

are you sure they're not for EGR? If so, then remove and make it look neat (inc. blocking up of ports in intake side)

if its anything like the 22RE they will be for EGR so you will have to blank the pipes off somewhere, or the rubber pipes that i think would go to the inlet.

oh and doing this will make your car illegal as you are disabling pollution control, even though the EGR system is probably so full of carbon it doesn't work anyway.

    Hi,

Does the 22R have auto-choke? If so, you'll need to fabricate this from the extractors.

Yeah, checking my Haynes manual, it does say that the 22R has an auto-choke system. But I think there is still the whole EGR system on there as well. In terms of the EGR, if you don't care for emissions, LC Engineering sell block off plates. Other brands may sell them but it's the only one that comes to my mind (plus the Aussie dollar is low). And yeah, River is right, you'll have to fabricate those if you've already bought the extractors. They'd be fine for a 22RE though, so you can try selling them if you can't be bothered modifying them (like others will be able to use them for their 22REs), and just buy a set that still have the choke system.

If you want, you can PM me your email and I'll try to hook you up with the pages from the manual that deal with the 22R choke and EGR

    Hope this helps!
