    Default LN65 Power Steering Conversion/Upgrade

After failing to get a power steering box for my hilux, i've looked at other options for the solid axle 4x4.. After studying some pictures and listening to hear say from off road guru's, i've decided to convert my 87 solid axle to power steering from a ifs newer lux.. The advantage is better steering geometry. So if any one has done this conversion and could point me straight to the problems i may incounter, it would be muchly appreciated!!

You need to do a highsteer conversion to use the later independant front steering box. I think you also need at least 3 inches of suspension lift so you can run a highsteer conversion.
There should be plenty of information about doing the conversion on the 4WD Action forum or Outer limits forum.

i got no problems with the suspension lift.. but i am making it all myself as i have all the machines needed to do so. just got back from picking up my p/s box and this morning i already made the heavey duty ifs box mounting kit, which i copied from Sky Manufacturing. I tacked together my "double arm" ready to be welded tomorrow. The double arm is copied from Superior Engineering and i've got some high tensile rod for my drag links. I scored some great tie rod ends from a mate who works for a mining company, so i will thread the rods to suit. So far all of this has only cost $280!!!! The steering conversion is called "cross steer".. High steer is just a type of cross steer and i can make it for quater of the price! The hilux has a buick v6 conversion with the 4.2lt stroker kit and 5 speed auto. On the dyno it pulled a small 246kw at the wheels but with a shit load of tourqe as per the cam design. Runs on 35" BFG mudders, 4" suspension lift and 2" body lift. Has only 180 000k's original and had been driven to and from work by my mates wife for the last 10yrs. It's a very tidy ute and i've done it up for my partner as a week end driver. Would like to have it as my user picture put don't know how..

Thanks a million for your response Dazza
