its really not a difficult job in terms of fabrication.
if you want to keep the front swaybar standard, there will need to be a bit of work to the tunnel to clear the taper of the bell housing.
if you dont mind no or custom swaybar, then you could get away with just some hammer work. but yopu would need to machine the sump plate for clearance and remover or custom make a sway bar to clear the front of the sump.
as i've stated in previous posts... there are 'conversions'.... and then there are Conversions...
i preffer the later, such as proper firewall modifications where needed, fabricated engine mounts, steering knuckles, relocated racks, etc etc.. all to make it look almost factory, rather than whack it with a hammer.. and presto... it fits.. kinda...

well yeah... have a look at billzilla swap. factory appearance and from what i remember, the only modification from a fabrication point of view was the mounts on the crossmember.
still doesnt make it a HARD conversion.
Either way, with a beams install in an 86 there are tradeoffs depending on what you want the end result to be. U can get away with no firewal mods quite easily. Space the corssmember down a touch, run the engine in a similar plane as the 4age would be, either custom mounts on crossmember or custom mounts on engine side, custom swaybar or no front swaybar, and quads to clear brake and clutch master.
run a 3y bell and w58 with rear mounting and the gear stick will most likely still come through the orginal hole. Modify the tailshaft to match the box and custom make the box crossmember. none of these are difficult as such, just need some planning and basic skills.
You could leave the standard inlet plenum on and run internal mc mounted pedal box, but it would really overcomplicate things from a home modification point of view imo.
