Default TCCS 1G-GT ECU Analysis (PCBs Are here)

    toymodders.

The Toyota Computer Control System (TCCS) or ECU is largely a mystery mainly because it uses the proprietary Denso microprocessor & most documentation is in Japanese.

Following the work of the supra forums
    http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73379

I will be doing the same for the 1G-GT ECUs (GEN3 Only) to see how these work and if they can be twicked.

A starting point would be to identify the ECU and internal CPU
If any one could help out with part numbers as below on any ECU you have sitting around that would assist.

    Examples

    1G-GTE M/T Gen 3 - Toyota 89661-14370 175004-1883 12V ( 26P 16P 22P Plug
    connections) (Chip Details D151801-9730 7433 - 1161 )

    1G-GTE A/T Gen 3 - Toyota 89661 22290 17500 - 1742 12V ( 26P 16P 22P Plug
    connections) (Chip Details D151801-9730 7433 - 1161 )

The Denso chip (D151801-XXX 7433-XXX ) the first number indicate the chip and the last possible the batch run or code, from these 2 ECUs the Auto & MAN are running the same code?.

These is evidence that there is differant code inside the CPU and an externally fitted resistor is used to active this code?

This work would go some way to dispelling the myth that these 1G ECUs have a different tune.
I have a reader arriving shortly & I will be posting the results, Maps etc, here when they are found.

    Manuel.

Edit: the Gen 1 & 2 ECU look to have a differant CPU.

    Hi gazza,
are there any other number on the ECU , my one has a seperate sticker with a few digits, also what is the barcode on your units?

    Hi,

its been a while but here it is the code for the 1G-GTE A/T .
    http://cid-a253e0b7453f4772.skydrive...ic/1ggteat.lst

I will update the file as I decode but is a slow procces, any help welcomed.

The CPU replacement is close mid 2011 if all goes well; once this is available this will allow real-time monitoring & changes.

Our understanding so far from the decoding the ECU, the ECU runs an algorithm which calculates the fuel & spark, then compensation is made for temp, speed air flow , RPM; these are stored as data inside the CPU ROM and cant be changed.
The aim is to run the CPU with external RAM so the compensation data can be changed without the need to change out PROMS

From talking to other people, I have heard people gaining power by changing Manual to Auto ECU's, so maybe they do have different tunes? or maybe not.

as soon as i can find my M/T ECU I will extract that code and see if the compensation data is the same, the code will be different as there is a control chip for the Auto/Trans
one thing I have found is when your cranking the engine (starting) the ecu ignores thing like air flow and engine speed it uses default setting, once started its switch over and uses the compensation data with air & temp being used.

Once we have the code we can answer this question once and for all (M/T better than A/T)?.

Would it be then possible to somehow re-tune the chip on the ECU?

Here is one of the correction maps from the ECU, will need to do more coding before I know if this is for fuel or timing.

Yes with the new ECU board, the plan/aim is you can tune your car in real time,
Before you get to exited the code will need to be completely decoded and this will take at least a 18month if all goes well.

This data is at address 0xD337

just extracted the code the for 1G-GTE M/T and it the same code as the A/T so that’s one less nail in the argument M/T better performance.

I am now mapping the inputs to the CPU; once this is done I can start the decoding.

the map above is looking like an ignition timing map & the 8 data blocks look related to the 8 positions of the throttle position,

I can only find one of these in the 1G-GTE while the 7M-GE has two such maps.
    Early days still

It sounds like you have all the ECU's, but I have a GA70 A/T and M/T ECU if they'd help.

The project sounds interesting, and if there is anything I can do (I'm an elec eng, so have hardware experience to offer) I'm more than happy. Unfortunately my dissasembly skills are not something I'm proud of, but I do know the language

    Keep up the good work!

Tim, if you can give me the part numbers on the ECU covers as well as the installed CPU chip part numbers,

if any one has this info for the 1G-GZE ecu please post.

Interesting stuff, I had noticed some progress on this on other forums so am keen to give it a go myself.

    GX81 1G-GZE A/T Gen 3 - Toyota 89661-22300, 175000-1751 12V (26P 16P 22P Plug)

    Auto chip P/N: D151801-8480, 7616-2046

    What else were you after?
