    Default piston ring question

    Hi

    4agze motor (bigport)

2 compression rings. 1 is dead square (1.5mm) and the other has a circle mark and a angled inside edge (1.5mm).

Which one goes in the top ring groove, and which one goes in the bottom?

    Thank you!

    Hi

All fixed, found out the angled ring goes on the bottom. The rings are Hastings. Cheers.

Have a look through the hastings website for the sizes that you want.

Their online catalogue is very good and can be searched in so many ways.

Precision International are a supplier for most auto stores and also stock hastings stuff.

No connections, the guy who did my engine ordered me the wrong ones, I had smallport pistons, he ordered me bigport ones, and since I had already put on the oil rings, no refund

Time to go in there guns blazing mate. If you asked for a product and they gave you the wrong one they're in the wrong. Unless you didn't specify what motor you had I'd be wanting a replacement.

the motor was out of an aw11 so thats what he looked up even though I told him I had ae92 corolla pistons, he rang and said they listed the same type so he said order them I said ok, then I looked into it after the fact when I had already put the oil ring on and went to put the compression ring on.

fact is the guy did everything hell cheap because he didn't write receipts, so I really didn't have much of a leg to stand on.

I guess you can mix and match the sets and try and sell the other set off at your loss... or get him to order the right rings under the guise that your paying for them. When you pick em up with 3 of your biggest mates throw the old ones on the table and thank him for doing the right thing and replacing the incorrect part that he ordered by accident. Companies like this should be shut down IMO - if they think they can walk over you they will.
