    there is a difference
GTE pump moves greater volume per rotation
which is shown with the ~4mm difference in height of the internal gears (pump bit )
    http://www.mkiiitech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=356
    ^^ as discussed here
you can do it, but would probably suggest you dont
the difference in volume is due to the need to supply oil squirters, turbo, and oil cooler which is pressure activated not temp and returns directly to sump without going through rest of oiling system

sump is just down to whatever fits
to fit the GTE pump you will need to chop and weld the pickup to suit front sump

My motor has only seen couple drift days and Dyno runs so has not been drivin very conservative. Should i expect it to die if i don't change pump. I also running aftermarket oil cooler and filter relocator so oil has lots of travelling to do. From memory holds approx 6 litres oil!

There is a reason why toyota used a bigger pump on the GTE.

If i was drifting i would use a GTE pump. 7MGTE isnt the best in lubricating department to begin with.

Unless you have endless supply and time at hand to swap bottum ends.

also, if you do decide you like that motor in one piece as it is and change over to a GTE pump, at least buy a new one....

Well looks as though i got no choice. What about all the 7m ma61 conversion guys? did they all modify the 7MGTE pump to suit front bulge sump. I never knew about it or i would of done from beginning! Would of been a whole bloody lot easier. Now i cant think how to change without takin motor out? Im never gonna be able to register and give someone a lil screamer pipe. Grrr. Thanks for your input tho guys. Im learning!

Vinny its a risk you/them are taking, In saying that there are quiet a few guys runing 5M pumps in the GTE.

Im not saying it doesnt get done lots. More just that i wouldnt suggest it as the best option available. Given that the oil squirters are open at a set pressure and the springs tend to go soft as they get older it can mean that you start risking bearings etc due to starvation.
