For the sake of this argument, I'm gonna say, that Myne is right and it's going to be far easier to stick a honduh engine into a toyota, and it's going to make far more power and it'll just be easier and better all around.

I mean hell, I get green with envy any time i see a honduh.

Lol I only suggested the possibility of the F20C (s2000 engine) as a rewarding upgrade.
I never said it'd be easy. But for 250hp, it's probably not that bad cost effectiveness wise.
It was YOU that asked me to theorise with a honda motor. I chose the shitty old B18B because it'd be rude to use the 210hp vtec B18C or the 250hp 2.0L vtec F20C as a comparable base.

Personally, with that chassis, I'd be looking at an S or an A motor, preferably turbo.
I certainly wouldnt bother with the hewn lumps that are 3T or 18R engines - especially after I saw the extreme lengths someone had to go to to fit an 18RG to a TA23.

I think we're avoiding the very basic fact that he HAS a perfectly good 18rc sitting there that would cost $0 for an initial purchase price.. Granted it would however cost a bit to install.

    18R-C into TA22 = NO !!!

Its will cost you more than its worth to fit it in by the time you fabricate the mounts, change the wiring, buy/fit the w50 (including more custom mounts for the gearbox)
get the customer tailshaft shortened and make everything work as a package

And for all your effort you have a boat anchor of an engine that would almost pull grandma off her rocking chair if it was on a down hill run.

If you want a bolt in option the you can get another 2T, a 3T from a T18 or a 2TG. They are all old engines that in stock form are uninspiring to drive.

You can fit a 3T-GTE which is not a major feat in engineering. It is still an old style engine of the cast boat anchor 8 valve design. with the right bits tho the can be rather inspiring to drive (Especially in a light package like a TA22). No high performance engine package comes cheap tho.

The 16V 4AGE is your "late model" 2TG it makes basicaly the same power as a stock 2TG from a lighter multivalve engine and again responds to the right mods. The dorito boys love em.

If you want upset the purist's and arn't scared of making things fit where they weren't intended and the associated problems with this then by all means you can drop in a Nissan or honduh variant of your choosing, throw a crapload of cash at the conversion instead of go fast goodies on a engine that fits easier and go slower for your investment.

The choice my friend is yours.

Anyone who went to "Extreme lengths" to fit an 18RG into a TA23 should be shot for basic stupidity. Given an RA23 crossmember and front strut assembly is a bolt in swap he should have had it done in a weekend.

    1. keep 2T running (use heavier engine oil or any cheap anti-smoke solution or re-ring only for short extension of engine life)
    2. sell 18RC
    3. purchase 2t or 3t (GT or GTE version) to rebuild
    4. ??? (learn to rebuild engines)
    5. profit ?

Whats the output? I was kind of thinking...mmm, turbocharged engine...mmm, free. mmm, improvement upon M-EU. Then for all the effort, it's probably not much of an improvement.

A mate with a ta22 wants to put a (silvertop?) 4age in...there's still the effort of a rwd conversion and other such stuff, but maybe you should look at doing something like that? They're a much newer engine, thats not too expensive, economical on fuel, reliable, but still not gonna break your car, without too many installation hassels.
