    Default aftermarket ignitor replacement

i think im having problems with the factory 4AGZE ignitor, can use something like an EMS - 2 Coil Igniter Module to replace it?

Do I need any other mods?

if you are using a stock 4agze ECU, then yes you will have problems.

    What ECu are you using?

you are stuck with it unfortunately.
I will say that in my experience ive never had a stock toyota ignitor fail or operate poorly. They are usually bulletproof for me.

Make sure it is installed and wired correctly... and that the body of the ingitor is EARTHED to the chassis properly.

In factory installations the ignitors are usually bolted to a bracket, which is inturn bolted to the body.
If this isn't mimic'd its usually a poor earth thats causing the issues.

I did place a test light on the wires and tested OK. But I guess it wont tell the difference between a good earth and poor earth. The ignitor is bolted to a factory thin metal sheet which is then bolted to the firewall. I'll make sure its the first thing I'll change around this weekend...

    fingers crossed

Good news, it wasn't a ground fault, just a couple of the wires were around the wrong way on the ignitor plug. Problem now is it has a ridiculously high idle and loud squeal which is not sounding like its coming from the belts... anyways ill make another post to see what help I can get.. the drama continues
