    Default Wastegate Shaft lubricant

The shaft on my wastegate (Tial 46mm) is sticking. I need to lubricate it with something but i Haven't the faintest idea WHAT to lubricate it with given the heat of the area..

I would try some sort of peneration lubericant like penatrene or chemsearch yeld or even C.R.C. there's not much that will stand all that heat.

Would it be sticking due to exhaust build up on it? Would cleaning help?

nickel based grease (aka.nickel anit-seize) is the best for VERY high temperature lubrication. i use it on all my exhaust bolts, sometimes spark plugs.

it pracially impossible to burn it off anything

its looks a thick metallic paint.

i secound this! the copper and nickle in it are the main parts that last in the heat!
i use it on everything! when i undo something it goes back on with copper anti seize! makes life much easyer.

yeah, the nickle stuff sounds the goods. ah well, it just got wheel bearing grease this time around, buT HELL did it make a difference. THe things a f'ing animal now..

4A - I dunno if it's common to tial wastegates, but this one has had issues before. First time around, the wastegate actually STUCK open and I got no boost at all. was very annoying. But I'm a master in how to take them apart now

Thought id dig this thread up as im having trouble with my TIAL 44mm wasegate at the moment. The gate is brand new.

Im having probs at the moment as it will not open. I have tried everythig even turned off boost controller all together to see if it will open but no go.

The gate was ordered with the specific spring rate to hold 30 psi boost. At the time i was told by the guy who i ordered it from that with this spring rate i would have a minium boost level of 16 psi which is fine for low boost.

But at the moment i have the boost cut set at 20 psi and the gate is not opening at all !
Im wondering if the spring pressure is too high ?? and i should change spings

Any one had any similar probs ??

YES it is connected correctly !
