Pretty sure God gave us brains to figure out our world's problems, as he invented that wonderful stuff called yeast which makes great stuff called Alcohol!

Now as much as I'd like to believe that it was made so we could get well lairy, I'm sure that powering our cars is a worthy cause! especially when using our waste for benefit with no cost to the environment.

Sure oil might not run out soon, but it is getting bloody expensive!

Back to topic, are those ethanol sensors binary output or linear? If they are 2 state, what happens when you have mixes of E85 and 98?

Ps. whose going to be the first to bag 300kw on a 1j with stock turbos?

from what i've read the holden ecu only has 2 maps. E85, and straight petrol. so that would most likely be just a binary sensor too.

no doubt that in the future you will see much more refined versions which can adapt to any amount of ethanol concentration. it's still only early days after all

Depends in which application. The sensor for the ProEFI is linear, so it can give you an exact percentage of ethanol content in your tank regardless of what else is in there.

whatever it runs in the new comode it can can run on any mix ratio up to e85

I mean how the hell would you be able to tell everyone that they have to have a near empty tank before refilling your car with a different fuel type . Not to mention the liability issues with a car that would slowly decompose when you run mixed fuel and its not designed to .

I have it from the source it will run on any mix you put into the tank from straight unleaded/premium or E85 in any mix ratio of those three fuels!!!!!

2 maps ECU pshhh we may not be a merc but we can see the stupidity behind trying to sell a car that you have to empty of one mix before refilling . I guess ford will do that tho

oh and thanks for putting me straight with the GOD making sure we will always have enough fuel for our needs as the athiest in me had doubts . as this is the case I will sell the 18rg motor and go buy a 427 big block for the car .pffft god botherers

I have a ProEFI 128 ecu for my supra, the proefi sensor is actually just a standard GM sensor that is made by Seimens
I have both (Ford on left, GM on Right) and will test them on the same batch of fuel:

    ]

It measures the fuel flowing through it and outputs a variable digital frequency signal depending on the amount of ethanol, the pulse width of the signal indicates the temperature of the fuel.
You use that to adjust/slide all the maps (fuel, spark, boost etc etc) infinitely on the fly (ie 4th dimension) depending on the percent of ethanol in the fuel.
EG one tuned for normal petrol and one tuned for E85/E98.

The new flex fuel vehicles don't actually use a physical sensor any more.
They use what is known as a 'virtual sensor'.
It works when the fuel gauge goes up, then it stops all emission controls and reads off of the 02 sensors to calculate the percentage of ethanol.
