The actual size of the flywheel is exactly the same in my experience.
And they all come with 8 flywheel bolt holes.
In some of the flywheels, there is a locating dowel, also some of them have larger flywheel bolt holes.
So i just spoke to the parts guy at my local toyota to double check some part numbers. Im after a flywheel to suit a gen2 3sge (celica).i knew its the same as a camry(5s) flywheel. Now, this part apparently isnt the same as one from an Mr2 turbo or non tubro and isnt the same as a 185/205 flywheel either. Can anyone list some specs and tell me if i can actually use a gte flywheel? i imagine weight probably has to do more than size if anything.
thanks heaps, Stu

the 3SGE gen 2 flywheel should not have a dowel and will either use 10mm or 12mm diameter bolts, depending on the year. It is not the same as 5SF which is heavier, but a 5SF can be lightened to suit. I have several at work if you get stuck and cant find one locally.
According to my new toy (EPC) the ST182 GTR and MR-2 have the same flywheel assembly. If you know the year your engine was made might be able to narrow it down?
oooh do mine do mine for me i have a ST202 1994 gen 3 3sge, it was an automatic too that apprently mean i have a 3sfe crank, it has 8 bolts, this info will be useful when i look for a light weight fly later on down the track, any one wanna hook me up with info on this for me?
This is duncan off ozcelica right? So your gen 3 had a 3sfe crank put into it order to convert it to manual, or are you asking if the gen 3 auto has a 3sfe crank?
hahahah sorry dude, first things first i am on and the same as dunky monkey on ozcelica.
now clear up what i didn't say clearly, according to terry from road and track, automatic gen 3 3sge have 3sfe cranks in them and therefore need either a 3sfe or 5sfe flywheel this works out well of me, howeven i haven't found a light weight fly for a 5sfe but i will need one when i start working on this engine and do the rebuild, the fly is a 8 bolt with either 10 or 11mm bolts i don't particually remember it was like 8/9months ago, i just know that that the bolts from the 5s motor don't work for my new engine, the new engine need full sized bolts where the bolts from my old 5sfe were fat and then were slimer where the thread was for the engine. so i would just like ot know things like weight of a stock flywheel, spacing for the flybolts and size of the bolt holes i can get a custom one made up here for 5-800 what ever weight i want, so i will be leaning towards that option compared to 800+ to import one i'm not sure is goin to fit. i will need to do some more research obviously to figure out what specifications i will want for the fly.
Im not quite sure what year it is, im 99% sure that it's a 1992 though. i have the engine number - can i get the year from this?
