If its the 86 model 22 RE with no vacuum advance on the dizzy then yr igniter has cacked itself by the sounds of it . Used to be common many moons ago .

Hey guys, new to the forum and the toyo scene, have a bit of a problem with my corona and im hoping someone on here can help me out
Its a 86 22RE, 5 speed corona
I left a friends the other day ( car was running great previously ) got about 2 streets away and the car all of a sudden lost all power and wouldnt rev, sounded like it had lost a couple cylinders, ended up having to tow it home, tried to start it the next day and it started up perfectly, ran well, revved up and did everything it should..... for about 30 seconds till the same thing happened again and every time i start it it will do the same thing run ok for a very short period of time then turn into a very rough not wanting to rev mess
Ecu reported back code 6 which is Rpm signal ( crank angle pulse ) No Ne signal to ecu within cranking or Ne value being over 1000rpm in spite of no Ne signal to ecu
Four things could be to blame
1. Igniter circuit
2. Igniter
3. Distributor
4. ECU
I have spent some time searching and found the above information but im in need of a little more, im not sure how to go about testing the igniter circuit, igniter itself or the ecu so if anyone can help me out i would greatly appreciate it, it really sucks having your pride and joy off the road
Cheers
