Default AW11: removing the steering lock

    What up.

So I've bought this AW11 and the previous owner didn't have the key(s) for it, now I'm trying to get the steering lock off so I can move the damn thing and it's proving a headache.

    Here's where I'm at:

The pics are a little crappy, but basically the steering wheels off, the wires for the indicators, horn etc. are out of the way and I've come across this big metal contraption with the ignition barrel.

My question is, am I supposed to drill out those bolts - what look like bolts, anyway - holding it on? I can't see any other way to do it, but I don't want to f**k something up I can't later fix/replace.

Anyone taken the steering lock off their AW11 and can send a few tips my way please?

if you can pull the ignition barrel assembly out, you can then wedge something in there to hold the steering lock out of the way. i went through these dramas some 3 years ago when some ****s tried to steal my car and destroyed my ignition barrel in the process, but i've forgotten what i did to replace that assembly now lol. sorry

It's all good, cheers for that.

I'll have to remove the ignition barrel assembly anyway, so I might just break EVERYTHING except the steering shaft itself. I'm in that sort of a mood.

*shrug* I'll see what Saturday brings.
