Don't mean this to be rude mate... have you used google images before?

just type in a few things... SW20 Engine, MR2 3sgte, SW20 starter motor, etc and see what comes up![]()
favour? Anyone got any pics of complete SW20 engines out of the bay? showing the pulleys & various attachments around the belts?
Am just working out how to low mount ancillaries (Alt, P/S & A/C) on my 3SGE in RWD mode - using what i think is an SW20 3SGE alternator bracket as a starting point.

no offense taken, was just hoping someone had some detail shots of the front of the engine.
most of the images i find are top-down shots of engine bays and most of the motor-out pics are engines strapped to pallets or show the exhaust side of the motor. Of tghe few front-on shots, there's no ancillaries.
The bracket I have fits low on the exh side but the toyodiy site has a belt diagram that shows the alt on the intake side.
all the sw20 alt brackets attach under the intake manifold. it uses 3 of the same bolt locations as the PS bracket in the celica 3s motors.
i searched thru my pics but none show it clearly. i've got a pic of a beams motor with a SC where the alt goes if that somehow might help...?
i can't think of any anc that hangs low on the exh of the 3s motor except for the AC pump which bolts directly to the motor.
got a pic of the bracket?
will try to scrounge up a camera and post what I have (on loan from Terry @ road-n-Track).
I presumed that AC compressors were hard mounted whereas this has an adjustmer on it - is why i had guessed it was an alt bracket.
Plan was to fabricate a mount based on this bracket. Engine will also run P/Steer and A/C.
Have found a beams pic (off here) that has a pressed metal bracket for the Alt under the intake. Bigger-picture plan is to use an inverted Ford/Mazda 2.2 intake manifold which would get in the way of the BEAMS example.

I presume it shouldn't matter too much, but just remember that SW20 had an electric PS pump. I'd imagine that all the mount points for a PS pump would still be there like the FWD variants though.
that has the factory cast iron alt bracket. yours should look identical.
prob best to fabricate a new manifold, which gen 3sge you using?
gen1 motor. The 2.2l ford/mazda intake manifold is a close fit - will use the TVIS plate (well, it's replacement actually) to eliminate any stepping and port misalisgnment. That manifold (when inverted) nicely clears the brake MC and points the throttle forward - but about where the top of that alternator is in pic above.
note: this is a budget project - so far it's cost peanuts, small fabrication i can do at brother's workshop. The more recycling/re-use of existing parts the better.
GEN 2 3SGE from SW20 [CORRECTION, FROM FWD CELICA]
And again...
3RD Gen 3SGTE
A crazy 3rd Gen 3SGTE

that pic of the gen 2 eng...is it being setup to go in a celica because the sw20's never had a power steering pump mounted of the engine and it has the celica crank pulley etc
Yeah im not sure John, it came from an importer and had 'SW20' written on the cam cover, but it did have a side facing inlet manifold... is that a giveaway??
nah the gen2 NA's all had the same inlet mani regardless of whether it's in a celica or mr2.
they're both the same engine just different ancillary placements.
also. the spring tensioner suggests gen1 motor at some point? AFAIK gen2 and beyond have the hydraulic thing.
Thanks for the pics guys - am already onto intake manifold option #2 as the runners in the 2.2l Telstar motor are too narrow for my liking. Will try to source later 2l DOHC manifold from a mazda/ford as they look interesting. I also remember seeing a DOHC motor in some korean mini 4wd thing mounted in NS mode, but cannot recall if the throttle went over the motor.
That would be the Mazda FE3, good bit of gear. They had a funny TVIS style intake as well, although most people delete it on the turbo'd ones.
