ah... the rocker cover should have told me it was different.

Have edited description to correct changes.
My apologies for confusion, was going off what was written on it...
The altezza engine has got the lowest mounted Alternator, it's on the same side as the SW20 but further down.
However I'm not sure if it bolts to the earlier blocks, what gen is your 3S?
The SW20 bracket is a steel casting, the beams 3S bracket from a celica is aluminum.
SW20 is probably the cheapest and easiest to get.
I've uprighted my 3S, but am using the celica bracket which mounts the alternator high up, on the other side.
A big part of my plans for the car are to make everything as easy to access and work on as possible, having the alternator high up helps! (Although not so good for COG I guess..)

roman: donor block is gen1.
Aaahh right.
Gen 1 3SGE never came on SW20s, only celicas.
So it'll come down to whether or not gen 2 brackets fit a gen 1 block.
- either that or I fab up stuff - decided on by price![]()
If you're planning on making one yourself, or splurging on one pre made, this thread might help you out http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?...rnator+bracket
idiot me. there's a dude on ozcelica that i sold a MR2 bracket to to fit to his gen1 3sgte and he's put up pics. dunno what took me so long to realise this would help you....duh.
he cut it up tho to save weight tho.....

also you'll need the sw20 crank pulley as you can see due to it's bigger dia otherwise you'd (i presume) overdrive the alt.
also the celica crank pulley is only 3rib where the alt's are 4rib for mr2's and 5 rib for celica's
i think I'll have to mount the alt on the exhaust side - the SW20 mount puts the alt about where the throttle will be.
