I went and coughed up the cash for the Toyota genuine bolts when I did mine a few weeks ago. It's the sort of thing you don't want to mess around with.

If one of those bolts shears or loosens, you'll have a chunk of metal exiting at nearly 9 thousand RPM. I've seen ordinary bolts punch through inch thick aluminium at this velocity. You may think you're safe in your car, but when stuff comes flying off your flywheel it'll go straight through your bellhousing, straight through your floorpan, and straight through you. Not to mention the damage that will be done to your crank if your flywheel loosens and starts rotating off-axis. And if you're really unlucky the whole flywheel can come off - or even apart. Disintergrating flywheels go off like a shrapnel bomb - really, really unpleasant stuff.

Your flywheel is more likely to shatter from being modified (redrilled, lightened etc) than it is from one bolt coming loose.

Feel free to prove mewrong but I highly doubt a flywheel would let go when one bolt fails.
The motor would be out of balance and you should notice it.

I would tend to agree, but at 8500rpm I am also inclined not to be taking risks.
To be honest, for the price the ARP ones seem to be the best out there. Of course you could buy some grade eleventy billion bolts made out of unobtanium, but i doubt it would make any difference.

I had a steel flywheel made for my 1jz-gte - W58 and used new, genuine 4agze flywheel bolts, they look identical to the 1jz ones, but are only about NZ$5 each. I know the part numbers arn't the same (and therefore they arn't the same), but with a custom flywheel which isn't genuine anyway, I thought it was a reasonable thing to do.
Whatever you do tho, don't take a punt on anything flywheel related just to save yourself a few bucks, it will not be worth it! I have seen the result of an exploded flywheel which looked like the car had hit a landmine!
