Pm 1jz747 he'll know
Hey all..
Just to satisfy my curiosity and for future projects.. I was thinking of hooking up a 100hp shot of NOS to a 1JZGTE.
Has anyone done this before?
I know its pretty common practise on chunky aussie V8's.. but what about the mild to wild 1JZ ?
I'm just wondering what sort of prep needs to be done to the engine for it to handle running NOS.. ? or ie. Is it even worth it in the end?
any feed back appreciated.
I was just thinking of going silly on a car out of the ordinary and seeing how quick it will go down the strip..![]()
Legality is not an issue.. purely racing spec..

If in doubt power out
It has been done.
1jz747 also runs NOZ to get on boost off the line as well from memory, also the green VK? commodore at Toynats had it...as well as others there? (crap memory).
One way seems to be to remove the TRC butterfly and place the NOS nozzle there.

First, is it a wet or dry kit?
If it is dry you will need larger injectors to cope with the additional o2 molecules. I am not very familiar with wet systems other than you need a fuel line as well so your fuel pump has to be up to the task.
From what I have seen, this is one area that I think is best left to the professionals. If you have seen pics of a car blown up from N2O (not fast and furious) I think you will agree.
You need to be able to tune it when it is activated. You will need a switch on the throttle so that it is only on when you are on 100% throttle and AFAIK you need to turn it off slightly before rev limit as this can cause big backfires which can be very damaging.
That is about all I know![]()
give me more detials about whats done to the car before i spend 40 mins answering your query.
ir turbos?
injectors?
ecu?
gearbox?
whats been done tothis engine?

The 1j bottom end is pretty durable. provided you get a wet shot or direct port setup it should be fine.

Thanks to James Cameron's Terminator films, we know that robots are stronger, faster, tougher and more Austrian than the rest of us.
I wouldn't do it on a stock engine with stock ecu. I would want to make sure the afr's were safe and timing was retarded a bit further once n2o was activated. Yes they are strong but you can still blow them up by leaning out, just ask pimpin 1jz. No n2o required either.

you could do it this way ^^^^^^^^^^^
or a more simpified less expensive way.
i run a dry shot 36 HP you can run dry shots of upto 100hp. this eliminates the need for another surge tank and fuel pump. though you will need bigger injectors to add the fuel to match the n20. this is a cheaper way of doing it.
that how my setup works and it works perfectly.

well I was thinking of purchasing a 100hp dry shot kit that my sister's bf is selling on the cheap.
At the moment i don't have an engine.. this is all theory and research at this point.
Most likely i will get a stocko 1JZGTE from a half cut and work from there.
So I basically need to know, from stock, what of the engine will need to be modded to run NOS..
thus far, sounds like bigger injectors and maybe a bigger/better fuel pump?..
anything else?
my plan is to put the 1JZ in something totally out of the ordinary as surprise a few people down the drag strip.
I'm sure a 1JZ in something old and lightweight is gonna be fun anyway - but with a mainly stock engine, I'm gonna need a shot of giggle gas to get the times I want..

I will say that you will need an aftermarket ecu to control fuelling and ignition.
With stock turbos, I would have at least 550cc injectors (2jz US) or 650cc – 850cc Sards as these fit in the stock fuel rail.
I would get a Bosch 044 fuel pump. You can actually mount this internally which I just found out on www.supraforums.com.au. Otherwise, lift pump, surge tank then 044. This will supply all the fuel you will need. I would probably use the stock FPR to start with. Change if need be.
Also, ct12a’s aren’t renowned for reliability when boosted up a bit and AFAIK n2o may speed up their demise. I was told that the turbine blades can spin twice as fast with a hit of n2o but I am unsure as to how true that is.
FYI there is a guy on www.supraforums.com named pituala who is running n2o on a 1jz in a ma61 supra. (manual box and ran mid 12’s without n2o)
May I ask, what times you are aiming for as there may be other options to consider.
N2O, 1JZ & Mk2 eh??..
I wouldn't mind seeing that if you can post a link to a thread on supra forums.
realistically i'd be happy with low 11's, maybe even 10's in an old 80's car of some discription
if there's easier ways (read: cheaper ways) than NOS to get that extra power / lower times - buy all means, I'll be happy to hear your suggestions.
I'm not all that experienced with 1JZ's so any hints and tips on extracting power will be appreciated.
Cheers
