gze burning oil + smoking

My '87 with a AFM 4agze appears to be burning oil under boost only - none during start up, idle, or non-boost driving. The issue appears to happen when it's at 5 psi or more.

I reckon its burning 2-300 Ml of oil each week. Smoke looks grey/bluey!

Any suggestions on the oil burning issue?

its done 170k ill try to borrow a comp tester. Ill report back...

Do a leakdown test... more accurate than a standard comp test.

Wow! Definitely get a leakdown test done before you rule the motor out, but it doesn't sound promising.

Well, the rings are shot: Compression test results:

1 - 132
2 - 126
3 - 126
4 - 130

with a teaspoon of oil in the cylinder

1 - 152
2 - 150
3 - 156
4 - 152

Current plan is to rebuild the spare GZE in the shed, and then engine swap. Woot!

I fear i may have toasted rings in my dailys gze sad day lets just hope its the valve stem seals are fucked, it ran on 10W synthetic oil before i swapped it in
