Default Single Turbo Problem On My 1GGTE

    Hey all,

About 3 months ago i noticed smoke comming off the turbine housing on my t04e after a normal drive. I left it for a while and didnt do much about it untill a fair bit of blue smoke started to come out of the exhaust while i was at idle. When i took the turbo off i could see black oil had been seeping from the bottom of the oil seal on the turbine housing.

Today i put on a new turbo and took it for a drive around the block, when i returned i opened the bonnet to find a little bit of blue smoke comming off the turbine housing.

Would anyone know what could be causing this? My oil drain does have a bend in it but not so bad that it would restrict oil flow. Also is it possible that my oil feed could be letting in too much oil?

    cheers

If your lucky it will just be the residual oil + other shit which you left on the turbo when handling it during the installation, this will obviously burn off once the turbo gets hot.

is the new turbo ball bearing? if so you will need to fit a restrictor in the oil feed line to the turbo.

I put a different oil drain on it and its all good now. as you said i would say it was residual oil.
