mine was a case of - take old ecu out - put other in , line in a map sensor vaccum line - and wire up an air temp sensor - bang - turn key - go ..

    no dramas whatsoever

no issues with power steering at all

what sort of power steering pump do the 185's have? the MR2 is a remote pump...does the 185 have a belt driven one.

About the autronic...SAS quoted me 4.5k for drive in & drive out on the Autronic SM4...unfortunately i can't recall entirely what that included

if it was me, i would try to save a bit more dosh and get an Autronic...it will have EVERYTHING u will need and will run it brilliantly

You could also get a Gen3 Power FC and modify the current harness to work with it. This has been done several times before and is detailed at www.mr2oc.com. Lets you get rid of the AFM and still runs like a factory setup.

the adaptronic might not be the perfect choice for you. but since its been mentioned i like to add the version 1.0 is about to be released with alot of updates/new features, to build on the already good package.

ive had one in one of my own cars as have a few friends. consensus is theyre better than say a microtech.

gen3 type power fc though sounds like a good idea..

    yeah im thinking of it

buy a cheap gen 3 power fc, and just re-wire my harness. install the gen 3 sensor and away she goes!

apparently REV 1 MR2 vs REV 2. even though same engine its like 26pins in different locations!

I don't have a spare gen3 map sensor at the moment but when I go to get tuned for more power I most likely will. It appears that my map sensor is pretty close to it's limits at 19psi.

If you have the FC-logit you can calibrate your own map sensor table so you can use any map sensor with the PowerFC. I'll most likely be going for a basic 3Bar sensor next time I go in for tuning.

For tuning you will need the FC-Logit to get a really good result with the Gen3 Power FC. Because it is map sensed and you have made reasonable changes to volumetric efficiency of the engine you'll need to modify the entire volumetric efficiency table. Basically the way it works is that you have a VE table which should have values to give stoichiometric mixtures at every point of the map, then you have a modifier map where you set the tune up. This map is where you specify mixtures you set a multiplier for the injector pulse width to get the mixture you're after so if you have a modifier of 1.2 then you'll get 12.5:1 AFR. Tuning the map sensed version of the powerFC correctly is a far more time consuming job than doing it for the AFM based version.

Happy to hear the turbo is working well for you. I miss the low revs boost that it could generate.

Oooh, interesting. Any ideas when it will be available? Where can I get some more info about it? You can answer via PM if you want.
