Have another look at what Oldcorollas has said. When there is no side load, the wings will hold a little oil. When the oil surges under loading though it has all that extra space in the top of the wing to fill which is a considerable volume. I don't see any advantages of this setup over the other design you posted and potentially some risks. More oil is good but not if it means more room to surge. If anything, you would be better flipping the wedges upside down.
Is there any oil surge issues with the standard sump? I haven't heard anyone complain about it before.
