    Default using a W58 behind a 1jz-gte, parts interchangability

hey guys, ive got a 1ggte with a W58 behind it, and i wanna use it when i do my 1jz conversion at least for now cos the box was rebuild bout 40,000k's before i bought the car..

now i know i can buy the right bellhousing, the 2jzge w series housing, but what i need to know is can i use the G series housing clutch fork and can i use the thrust bearing carrier thats already in the car, just wondering how poeple have done the swaps and used the w58 and what parts they needed to purchase..

unless some body has all the bits i need and wants to sell them =P

    thanks guys

when i was looking around recently i noticed the listings for the release bearing were different on the late model w58 to early, so i think its probably not. The easy way to find this out would just be to look up the part numbers for both, if they are different... they are different

If you can afford it, i wouldn't be wasting your money on the w58 setup (clutch and whatnot) - bellhousings alone seem pricey as well. None of this will be usable when you make the very likely decision to swap it later. I am shitscared of breaking mine, so i've not wound up the boost (now running big single) - nor gone back to the drags. With the stock turbo setup it seemed OK.

And sure, for $2500 i'll give you the entire conversion

Mine was running 12psi on standard turbos and it seemed fine, but then i have a jza80 w58 which is supposedly noticably stronger anyway depending on who you ask. Honestly, with the cost of a good clutch setup, bellhousing, etc etc, you are better off cutting your losses now and doing it right from the outset and using an r154. Use the fact your box has 40,000km on it as a resale point, because when your rebuilt box is all over the road / start line its not really relevant

No idea about speedo sensor, but if you work that out i'd like to know, I would assume that you'd want a jza70 r154 not jzx100 etc..

i bought the 2jzge W series bell housing from toyota. 2jzge HD clutch and flywheel combo made by exedy(no clue wat its worth coz i got it of a mate who had it in a car for less than a month) still using the original throwout bearing, slave cyl and fork, just had to add spacers to where the slave bolts to the bell housing and all behind the 1jzgte with w58(celica supra) gearbox running 15psi on stock twins.

doesnt like to be clutch dumped but everyday driving and anything with rolling start is fine.. im sure it varies from car to car but mine goes alright

I have the same clutch setup, receipt from previous owner of my car is about 400. It held up fine with the stock twins but now seems to be slightly not liking the big single at only 7psi

Bell housing, flywheel, clutch and pressure plate are different, everything else is original. had to mod the 2 clips that hold the throw out bearing to the cover slide but thats about it.. rep?
