Default Can you put piston squirters in early 7-rib 4AGE block?

I thought this issue would have been done to death & I've searched the Forums+ Googled hi / low but so far haven't got any definitive answers to this.

Part Numbers for 1988 and 1989 16V 4AGE Blocks are the same < 11401-19425 >, but the 89's have the "Oil Nozzles" listed as part of the assembly. (i.e. If not the same; why are the Toyota Part Numbers the same?).

Can anyone verify whether this is do-able; i.e. whether the Oil Galleries btw early / late 7 Rib Blocks are the same?

Futher to the above; I spoke to the Engine guy this afternoon and he said that the early 7-Rib can be machined to take Oil Squirters but he suggested a half-grooved main bearing would achive similar results with less hassle. . . .He races an identical set up (though with 20V Head).

the oil squirters are more to cool the pistons then anything else which really arnt needed unless the engine is boosted. If you have aftermarket pistons a lot of them will be ceramic coated anyway so the squirters will do very little.

the half grove main bearings have nothing at all to do with the oil squirters.

boring and tapping into the oil gallery sounds feasible, but really isn't needed most of the time and is better to save the oil flow for more important parts that need the lubrication.

Thanks for the feedback; that's pretty much what the engine guy said - that too much was made of the Oli Squirters (in N/A applications), and that the main thing was to have the later 7-Rib block.

its not even so much the 7ribness of the 7rib block, the main advantage is the bigger bearings.
