i have this one already, so was thinking max of 300mA = 47ohms ish, but could probably reduce current to solenoid and still have it work. hence asking about the resistance of the valves

then again... allt eh current will go through teh base legs.. hmm, maybe switch is not up to scratch..

The main thing is that you must put a diode across the solenoid, or the flyback current when you switch it off will burn out the switch. Those little switches don't open the contacts very far, so without a diode you'll get arcing between the contacts.
