Okay, problem is finally sorted after 3 months to the day exactly...

Turns out the entire problem was "simply" (cry) the ECU. Obviously something else is stuffed in the ECU after we re-capacitored it. Not sure if it's repairable, but not going to worry about it for now.

The ECU I borrowed originally to test, obviously had a problem as well, which I think is what threw us off. It's unfortunate that in the meantime, the starter motor got overworked and died needing a new one, but you live and learn, and burn cash.

Steve from Quickfit quickly figured out that the ECU was playing up and whilst wasn't 100% certain at the time that it was the source of the problem, confirmed that it was contributing to it. I managed to get another MAP sensored ECU (an AE92 that quickfit re-wired to fit the AE101), and bang there it was all fixed again.

There's been a couple of issues over the weekend, but not sure if they're going to need looking at or whether it was just random old car stuff, so not even going to bring them up for now.

The car needs some new shocks badly, with the spring combo it's bouncing all over the place. But anyhoo...

A MASSIVE, MASSIVE thanks to you all who took the time to reply to me and offer your advice. I can't say how much I've appreciated all your help over the months.
