what oil do you use in your tremec justen?... the SS manuals recommend dextron 3 ATF fluid but ive always wondered if say 75w80 synthetic would make them feel abit nicer

that is such a whacko sentence im not sure where to begin?
exactly what do want to achieve?? build 500bhp NA engine, and THEN whack twin SC onto it? common, reality check? happy to help with some ideas if youre interested, but i think you might need to tighten your focus a little?
as for the CAD designs, isnt $20 a hell cheap way to avoid hours and hours of measuring and designing? why reinvent the wheel?
cheers

What sort of ATF Justen?

Hi guys, Ive not yet heard of a T56 breaking yet from too much horsepower. I have a friend that runs an SS ute weighting about 1700kgs with 700hp down the 1/4 and hasnt had to change a gearbox yet.
I guess if you are going to make your own adapter plate, or design one to be made, this wouldnt be a problem. The gearstick locates in a very similar place to most Jap gearboxes, I have one in my MX5 and a mate with a supra 6 speed box in his MX5, the shifters sit in the same spot.
plus a T56 is becomming more common and cheapers :-)
synthetic ATF in a manual box FTW. gets rid of any nasty crunches
the supra 6 speed would be a good choice, they seem to be nigh unbreakable but people want drug money for them still.
There is no substitute for PUBIC inches
Never late in an x8
Supra 6 speed has the unfortunate side effect of requiring a matching 3.1/3.2 diff, otherwise 1st is nearly that useless you may as well have a 5 speed.

not right away that could happen but nothing solid yet i just want a real stong box i seen guys spill gears once a month with their cars and i work in a gearbox industry not automotive but i understand the stresses that gears and shafts handle just want to be furture proof as the saying goes

my pick would be a T56

T56's are easy to get, don't cost the earth and are strong. Neil at Rush Imports has a conversion kit for the 1UZ so all the hard work is done for you. He either does a single full face clutch or a twin plate puck which is what I have in my Soarer. For a twin plate it's very streetable.
Only thing still to be sorted out is the speedo hook up.
