    Default 7mgte turbo help

    ok so im tryin to hook up the piping for my turbo on the 7mgte, im using the standard CT26, and the snails pointing stright down which is makin it very difficult to hook up the piping. so a mate told me to spin the housing. iv got it off but cant figure out how to, and since getting it off was such a pain in the arse i want to make sure that it can or cannot be rotated before i put it back on

    so can the snail housing on the Toyota CT26 turbo be rotated so as the snail points upward? and if so, how? cheers

    Yes you should be able to clock/rotate the turbo. You should be able to see a few bolts with metal plates holding the compressor housing in place. undo these and you will be able to rotate it.

    To get the retaining bolts undone you will need to place the turbo in a vice and undo them after much wd40 and wearing. careful not to round the bolts.

    ?? what problem? what may be wrong?

    im not very turbo smart. at the moment the turbo is bolted to the manifold, and connected to zorst. has oil and water lines running to and from it but that is all. no piping to filter, cooler or intake. no BOV no boost controller. so i was told, pipe from snail to intake, and attach a pipe and filter at the front. will that work?

    wastegate should mount up fine as its secured by the fasteners that hold the compressor housing on, your just rotating the front housing, the wastegate bolts up to the same spot once you have rotated it.

    you should go air->inlet turbo->outlet of turbo->intercooler->throttlebody

    im skipping cooler for now... and the wastegate actuator, that controls the amount of boost? coz if i hook it up like that its not going to free spool?

    wastegate is intergrated into the rear housing of your turbo and controls the amount of boost made by the turbo, this should definately be "hooked up".

    I really would run an intercooler, especially on a 7m.

    stock ct26 doesn't use bolts on the compressor housing, it uses a sir clip, you can't re-clock a stock ct26 much because of the actuator. (on a 7mgte)

    the exhaust housing uses a vband...
