Default 22re top end noise, irs camber, ma61 diff rebuilds

i have recently purchased a 22re 85 model corona advante, its got over 300,00ks on it still goes well and runs with out any troubles, but its a bit ticky up top, Before i investigate what it is, what are the common problems for the 22re in my situation, Timing chain, lifters ?

the car is also lowered and being irs whats the easiest fix to this, is there an adjustment from factory (camber washer) ? or whats a good way about fixing it.

and finallly lsd choices for these, Heard ma61 is a direct bolt in but most are well and truly tired these days, Are they easily rebuilt

cheers Josh any help is muchly appreciated

pull rocker cover and check chain guides, made from plastic, go brittle and crumble ito the sump, chain hits inside of timing cover, THIS IS BAD! SUMP WILL FILL WITH WATER IF IT WEARS THROUGH.

Rattle could be valve adjustment so check that while covers off.

i believe you can modify rear end to rectify neg camber, not sure how tho.

ma61 diff is f series so check your firewall code and make sure yours is f series too and your good to go. welding stock one will be cheapest tho.
or truetrac LSD like i did
    cheers

Check the rocker cover is not done up too tightly. If you do the nuts up too tight it will be noisy. Common 22R noise.

Getting the camber out of these rear ends aint an easy job. You have to buy or make a plate to weld onto each of the arms, have a search through takai's JZA61 build thread. I believe there is a guy in America that makes the plates, you can contact him through celicasupra.com .
MA61 is the most common lsd, but if it were me I would be looking for an IS200 lsd or saving to buy a truetrac. MA61 lsds are missing a plate that earlier clutch-pack lsds had, this makes the MA61 item single wheel sometimes, rebuilding with the right kit gives you this plate though so they work properly. You can probably pick up an MA61 lsd for around $200 and then it's $200ish for the right rebuild kit. IS200 torsen type lsds are around $400 at cheapest.

I believe Pedders make offset bushes for them now.
I'm not sure a) how much $, or b) how much degrees
I don't believe they offer as much adjustment as the weld on kits though, but infinitely easier.

ok well i slipped the rocker cover off, the timing chain guides were fine, the timing chain seems to have good tension on it, what should the rockers be adjusted to?

sorry for the thread drag up but i'm about to set the lash on my newly acquired 22RE noise machine.

What is 25 N.m in hand terms, just "kinda tight" with a 10mm spanner?

i'm amazed they didn't pick up the issue with the rockers hitting the rocker cover, maybe they had no rough as bags mechanics who do everything up with a rattle gun.

yeah just tight is fine. new rocker cover gasket will usually fix the rattle as it will be thicker and more the cover up slightly.
