Thats because they've come a LONG way from the screw-type ECU's they originally were (which Motec oddly enough did too). That said, something like an LT10S is a lot of bang for your buck.
^^^^^^ You know microlebs aren't as cheap as what people make them out to be!

I don't follow this. Do you mean to say that running a sensor off your cams is inherently dodgy because of the non rigid link (chain or belt) from crank to cam?Originally Posted by The Witzl
Not entirely, he's saying it *can* be, and this was an issue that occurred with Glens 7M.

You are both correct..... im saying that it can be dodgy, and in the case of an old 18R with timing chains, dampeners, tensioners and the like, it is likely to be prevalent.
Glen's 7M had this issue. Very strange it was. And annoying..... good thing i didnt have to fix it
I'd prefer the 100% accuracy of the crank trigger wheel.
p.s. a microleb LT10s shouldnt cost more than $1200-1300.
...... butt scratcher?!
I was quoted $1295 for an E6X flying lead kit, so the Microtech would want to be a fair bit cheaper before I considered that option!

Also the other gent I've been talking to this week was Peter, not sure of his last name.Originally Posted by 3t-RA40
Scott's the main one I've been talking to. Give them a call direct, you may not get any discount/better price but you'll get what you want. The extra coil (broke a post off one) and the TPS I needed I got next day after phone call. To QLD/Brisbane may take two days but I had no trouble.
Cheers,

The HITMAN has pretty competitive prices for the e6x. Plus he is involved in the r&d of the systems. Not sure about waiting time though.
I found this while hunting around but I really don't know if they are as good as they say, the price seems ok ?

I am thinking of going standalone on my 1G, don't know if anyone has used the hawk or can comment on it ? Could it be another viable option for 1J's and 1G's ?

Haltech is a better option here as you can configure the crank input to whatever you like.
Then you have the option to do whatever you want at the start and change your setup later. With Mtech you will need to pay to have the inputs reconfigured if you change your setup.
If you still need either a Haltech or Microtech PM me generally the haltechs get to me in two days..Microtech well..generally longer.
I tuned one a E6x on a 3sgte a month or so ago (standard dizzy with VR) and it worked perfectly. Very good value for money computer.
Worth a mention are the new Adaptronic ecus www.adaptronic.com.au
ECU retails for $990
Loom $66
3 bar MSD map sensor $180 (I think 2.5 bar cheaper)
These have totally configurable everything including crank inputs. Will tune itself using narrowband or wideband input through serial cable, does flat shifting, accurate knock sensing, narrowband o2 close loop modes, idle control and much more. No dongle require, software is free.
I put one on a 1G earlier this week. The config files can be loaded straight into the ECU so I have the full setup for a 1G Using all 3 VR inputs, falcon wasted spark coils and 6 hours of dyno tuning ready to go. I can honestly say this is the first aftermarket ecu I have installed and tuned for under $2400 that does everything better than the standard ecu
Wow the price has come down a bit since i ordered mine in 2003. I ordered directly through Haltech, it is the best and easiest way to go.Originally Posted by Norbie
Yeah, thats about $120 cheaper than mine in the end of 04.

I got home today and there was a box full of Haltech goodness waiting for me. And guess who has a 4-day weekend coming up? I'm excited!!
Mad props to Hitman, he's been very helpful and delivery was prompt, much recommended!
