Hi,
Grim is good, but not sure he does a tune up - which would be required after such a service. However, he does know tuners who could do that.
Kleinig is brilliant also and does rebuilds and tune ups. He's based out near Riverstone.

Want/need to freshen up the 1JZ. Belts, tensioners, cam seals, front seal, water pump, therostat. (basically a 100,000k service with a few other things) But..............
Where can I take her? Who can I trust?
I'm on the Central Coast of New South Wales and looking for somewhere between Newcastle and Hornsby.
Anyone care to suggest a reliable Work Shop?
Grim Performance in Hornsby has the nod so far but I'm open to suggestions.
Anyone had any good or bad experiences with mechanics they care to name?
Ta,

River,
I don't agree with your comment
What makes you say that a 'Tune Up' is required after the above mentioned service, and can you let me know exactly what would be involved in such a 'Tune Up'?
My thoughts are that on a modern factory EFI car there isn't such a thing as a 'Tune Up' and in particular not on an engine such as the 1JZ which doesn't even have anyway to change the base ignition timing (1JZ has no dizzy - It uses crank and cam angle sensors which can't be adjusted!).
You can't 'Tune' Fuel or Ignition on a factory 1JZ, so I don't understand how a 'Tune Up' would work
Feel free to correct and/or enlighten me.
Cheers
Wilbo
Have a word to Peter Day at Road 2 Race Chassis Tuning at Unit 6 / 15 Stockyard Place West Gosford 2250 (Ph 4322 7804) and see if he can fit you in.
Highly recommended as he's been doing all the work on our cars that I don't have time to do in the last 2 years but as with most good mechanics, he is in demand and regularly booked out.
On a factory ECU, I totally agree with Wilbo that there is nothing to "tune up" on a 1JZ-GTE and I would be wanting some specifics of any alleged tuning conducted by mechanics other than pulling the EFI fuse for a minute to reset it.
