We had a great day as well, we reckon we did about 70 - 80 laps, the XE didn't stop all day and ran faultless, but we went trough about 120 litres of premium fuel at about $1.44 per litre - YIKES!!!.

They put heaps of cars out there to slow the lard-heads down and it does work. They were going to pull a second drivers briefing at about 1.00pm but hings settled down, I have done that once when I was Clerk of Course - they get a bit out of control out there.

We also had a great day yesterday at the Winton Sprints, the XE again ran well, except when the gear lever fell off in my sons hands, but nothing some teflon tape and a some good luck couldn't finish, and another 70 litres of fuel - this motorsport stuff is pharken expensive!!!

It was good to meet/say hello to couple of you blokes, and Ian too - LOL

It was good to catch up with you again trev
it was a great day , apart from a couple of small maintainance issues, the shitter went all day
i took my friend Ron out in the passenger session ( this was his first time at winton ,)
    and i spun it at turn 2 , i put this down to 40% cold tyres and track,and 60% showing off ;
lt was very busy on the track early , but settled down later in the day , these are well organised events and they do it well , its a pity that something like this cant be organised at Calder
shannons car went well , graham had his first run there with his 22 and didnt miss a beat
oscar had his latest acquisition there , ray surprised a lot of people with his amazing mazda, but had supercharger pulley problems ,joey settled in well with his blue shitter lookalike and was happy how it went ,Adams dahaitsu charade d 'tomato seemed to go great
mattys honda had a rear suspension failure , so i guess it will be a toss up which one of his cars will be finished in time for the six hour ,
liam had a good day in his supra ,rosco's celica circulated consistently , although he wasnt to impressed with his tyre choice ,there were a few incidents that ended the day early for a few , the white commodore hit the wall doing a fair bit of damage , this was a case of the son driving dads car , the usual story
i find these events more enjoyable than competition events ,

Some of the "lard-head" behaviour must scare the bejesus out of the absolute beginners out there and put a few of them off sprints etc... shame its not broken down into a beginners session and an "others" session or something.

Then again, some of the guys in the full house race cars like the Commodore Cup like cars scare the bejesus out of me too with their diving in under brakes shizen too...

You always know how to catch my better side charlie!

Yeah definantly wasnt impressed with the commodore cup guys, they should have definantly been black flagged as there was supposed to be "overtaking on the straight only". Even tho most people dont abide by it they atleast do it in a semi-safe manner. Ohwell, you get that.

I think i managed out get out to every single driver session except 1 or 2 of them. Bring on the next track day! (but with semi's this time )

The idea has been spoken about, but the 'fun day' was originally introduced for race teams to take sponsors for a ride, but it has been 'infiltrated' (LOL) by the masses.

I tried to get the idea up of different sessions based on 'skill level' when I was C of C, but it isn't that simple. Maybe a day to for the 'non-race' people and a day for the 'race' people is a better option.

Here is a tip, try to attend the Tampered Motorsport days held at Winton, it is more expensive for the drivers, like $150, but only $10 for passengers and there is no 'driver only' sessions, you can go out with or without a passenger every session, AND it is timed. Check out Natsoft for a bit of history of the days.

Agree the driving standard is much better at the Tampered Days.. I did one in the Corolla nearly two years ago now.

I guess I thought the Fun Day was a "Come and Try" day rather than a sponsor day. Makes a bit more sense now as to why it is like it is, even though it has been infiltrated

And Slim.. yes a man in a Cressida is always invisible, even when it is as fast as yours

Hehe... it was busy... and i'll admit i did turn up at about lunchtime.

In my first session out on the track i had gone less than two thirds of the way round my first lap when it was red flagged. That bloody commodore had gone into the wall.

I have a heap of photos to put up plenty of ian and joeys car not sure about others i only really took shots of one session.

Joey i love the track car it was good to see it in person sounds like an absolute beast as well.

I was in the moving road block of a ST162 it was my first time ever on a track driving and i have never been to winton before so sorry if i slowed anyone down. I was surprised at how well my car kept up with some of the faster cars on the straights.

Ahhh... I saw the ST162 on the track and was wondering if the it was one of us. You were doing pretty well although I'm pretty sure i remember roaring past on the straight.

I didn't see the incident. Since it was red flagged i came in immediately. Shortly afterwards I saw the bent commodore come back on the truck. I suspect it was somewhere just after the esses judging from where i saw the truck come from.

I couldn't believe they let that Formula Ford type thing out with everyone, they are so hard to see in your mirrors it's crazy.

Best fun was chasing that Volvo 240 turbo and a little Red Renault (Clio?).
