Can i swap 3rd gear from W55 into W58?

Is there any one done it before by swapping W55's 3rd gear into W58 gearbox? W55 seems a bit of rough and W58 is a bit on the taller side around 3rd gear ratio.

W55 3.566 - 2.056 - 1.384 - 1 - 0.850
W58 3.285 - 1.894 - 1.275 - 1 - 0.783

After the swap will be

W58 3.285 - 1.894 - 1.384 - 1 - 0.783

Unfortunately, the difference in the ratios is from a difference in the layshaft gear ratio - all other gears have the same number of teeth so changing one pair wont change the ratios.

Incase anyone is interested I got bored and calculated all the teeth.

Layshaft - 47/32 - 1.469:1
1st - 34/14 - 3.567:1
2nd - 35/25 - 2.056:1
3rd - 33/35 - 1.385:1
4th - 1:1
5th - 33/57 - 0.850:1
Rev - 39/14 - 4.092:1

W58
Layshaft - 46/34 - 1.353:1
1st - 34/14 - 3.286:1
2nd - 35/25 - 1.894:1
3rd - 33/35 - 1.276:1
4th - 1:1
5th - 33/57 - 0.783:1
Rev - 39/14 - 3.769:1

Looks like the gears on the mainshaft are the same ratios in both boxes with different ratio on the input shaft gears to give different end ratios (closer)

One problem i have come accross twice , once with a W box an another G box , is that toyota had different companys make the boxes over the years and a gear out of one sometimes wont fit another . Diffferent gear cuts .
