Ive heard its fairly common for clutch type lsd's to do this, correct me if im wrong?
You're not incorrect, clutch LSD's wear out. A Truetrac should never have this problem, it should just...break.

    Curt,
Stitt is correct, the LSD was only fitted to the cressida grande in the mx83. There is a modification that has been detailed on this forum to strengthen them and i would suggest that you speak to someone that has done this mod before you use one. I have 2 of them and will test the one in my grande when i (if I) get the2J conversion finished ,the car has only done 98K.even so i intend to order a tru trac before i even try it.
My 1uzfe cressy has a KAAZ 2way lsd ,which has copped heaps with no sign of slip although it is a bit savage.ie tends to chirp in tight turns.this is a stock 1uzfe. you need to decide what power you are going to run and then decide what you need to put it on the deck.
    Cheers Greg.

can an lsd be welded up?
the 3.7 ratio is good but a 3.5 would be better. just super hard to find.

Is it possible to weld the LSD center? Or even tighten up the supra LSD . Mine locks up when it feels like it and find it very unpredictable.

    Hi.
If you wish to weld a diff , use a stocky, no point in welding a LSD. This will be great if you only want to use it on the strip, if however you wish to use it on the road you will find it does not do much to enhance the handling ,particulaly in the wet, more power ,more probs.
    Cheers greg

Hey fellas hate to hijack but im pulling my hair out, and havn't heard about the exact issue that I am experiencing with a similar mod!!! I have a hilux diff that im planning on putting in my TA22, (RN25 housing) that originally had a 4.7 ratio in it. I have gone off and bought a detroit tru track centre and also bought a JZA70 centre with a 3.9ratio to swap into my huilux diff..

All the parts have been given to my diff guy thinking it was all bolt together, however he seems to have clearance issues as the pinion gear is too big to fit within the actually hilux housing?? He seems to think that there are 2 types of hilux centres and becuase I started off with such a tall ratio it won't actually fit within the centre.... I have given him some links to toymods re people using spacers to space out the crown wheel which will inturn fix issues with the pinion adjustment, however he seems to think that the opposite adjustment is needed and the pinion is physically too big?? Has anyone heard of this?

Do I need to ditch the JZA70 ratio and go for some other G series centre with a different pinion size?
