Hmmmm i beg to differ the right size hammer will dent anything.

I did my trans tunnel with only a hammer and ended up with a VERY good finish looks factory !!

do tell what thickness of metal you're dinting? i tried for over half hour with a LARGE sledgehammer and made no gain with the ma61 tunnel. oxy and red hot metal...happy days and within 10 min my gearbox was sweet as.

anwyay back to topic...if you are NOT making progess with a ball pane/ block hammer, you need to seek an alternative method. IMO oxy cetaline (spelling) making it easier to bend is your answer.

depends how big you want your bend. Oxy and bashing it will only take it so far before you really need to change suspension and cut and weld tubs there.

Just measure the offset, will soon show you if they are FWD offset.
Pull the wheel off and lay it face up on flat ground. Measure from ground to the hub mounting face (call this A), then flip over and do the same (call this B, make sure this is still to the same mounting face). Add A and B together and divide in half (call this C). The difference between C and A is your offset. If its more than 20-25P (A more than B) it is probably a FWD wheel.

but why are you worrying about the fuel burning? Seriously, unless you're using the naked flame near a tank opening it wont cause you wont have issues. I used it in an engine bay also with a main feed line with a bit of rubber plugging it, and i too like yourself worried...pointlessly... its not like you are going to be directly heating up the line. IF you are worried, it isnt difficult to disconnect the line and leave it hanging out of the way....if you're going to the trouble of tubbing, do it properly. You will probly do more damage to the car (and yourself busting your balls) trying to smack the shit out of it with a big hammer...i did mine with heat and a 10" long block hammer and it took me all of 10 minutes to enlarge my trans tunnel about 2" width....red hot steel moves a lot easier than cold steel, and it has less likelihood of fracturing or affecting the integrity of your wheel wells.
