    Default Oxygen sensor question

I have a 3TGTE with 440cc inj., bigger plenum and throttle body and T3/4 turbo using the stock ECU. I will be using a wideband oxygen sensor to monitor/adjust the air/fuel ratio through the AFM. My question is, will I still need to use the stock 1 wire oxygen sensor for the ECU to read or can I eliminate that and just use the wideband and adjust the AFM accordingly? Your input will truly be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Just wondering how you are going to adjust the A/F/Ratio through the AFM & with a stock computer ..

If you go that way what sensor is telling the factory ECU the actual oxygen readings that are actually coming out of the exhaust, i cant see why you cant & would not use the standard oxy sensor as well or at least hook up your wideband to the ECU but not sure how it would go with range of voltage that its spitting out to the computer & also your computer will probably try & constantly lean back the exhaust with the bigger injectors that you want to run ..

I'm aware of that way, but thats just for in my thoughts a bit of fine tunning & not for the mods you have & i would suspect the mixtures will be every where & just adjusting the spring tension will not cover all the parameters ..

I'm not up with the 3SGTE Engines but do they still run a AFM or is it a Air Mass Meter ...

the ECU typically uses the single wire at certain parts of th emap to tell if it is rich or lean only, and then alternate between the two.

if you remove the single wire, how will the ECU know what is happening? or will you use a narrow badn output of your wideband sensor controller, and feed that to the ECU? in that case, no probs

Stock ecu + 50% larger injectors = will never run right.

Duly noted. Will eventually use Haltech.

Just be wary playing with the AFM flap.
I'm not 100% if it just influences the fuel map, or the timing map as well.

Either way, if you manage to get WOT acceptable, idle will probably be rich enough to choke a brown dog.

If you have access to some ~350-365cc injectors while running on the stock ecu it will handle them much better.

    Will definitely consider this.

Thats all good and well, but this thread is about a 3TGTE, which runs 295cc injectors.

you can get wideband 02 sensors with controllers which can have multiple outputs. so you bascially use one output to simulate stock narrowband sensor output, and then have another outputting 0-5v for a wideband gauge or you can even make it linear 0-1v to make a narrowband gauge more accurate/usable.

i'm using the LC1 from Innovate Motorsport (who used to provide haltech with all their gear) on my xr6t, haven't finished setting it up though.

edit: sorry, just re-read Stu's post.

Exactly the same wideband I'm using....

technically as as said above, 1 single wire to the oem ecu is the signal wire, take this away and the ecu has no idea how much fuel is burning an so forth....

ad a 4 wire to this and it will only adjust how quickly the ecu adapts to how much fuel is being burnt in EX

tune it once tune it right...
