from memory.. the chassis tag could not be proven and he never came through with any proof of claims.. we called BS.

    Hi AE25,

Thats damb interesting there from the NZ toyspeed haha, who knows this could be the same car! It sounds very similar to what i am talking about anyhow. Also it was here in Dunedin.

I personally think that this is still BS and Toyota never did it, but maybe someone tryed chucking some whorey setup on it who knows???

    Cheers for that mate,

apparently the reason why that HKS kit is so rare is because it's was worth a small fortune at the time

its possible, early 3sp and 4sp man boxes had overdrives for highway crusing.. possible but unlikely

No it's not even close to possible.

The owner sounds like they don't really have the whole picture...

I suspect the car was converted from auto to manual at some stage and the OD button was left in... as a manual car that auto button will do nothing! 7 gears is a lie

As is dual SC's... lolz (a lie)

And you rarely had 2 overdrive gears anyway - either the overdrive unit was an extra gear added to create top gear (so a W5x would have 6 gears), or it was a separate unit between the box and the final drive which dropped all the ratios down (the opposite of a low-range transfer case, for instance), in which case he'd have 10 forward gears and 2 reverse (although there are sometimes lockouts to stop you using it in the low gears, or to automatically engage above a certain speed etc like an auto)
