hey guys
Got an issue with my friends engine
basically the car has been stored for the last 5 years, before going off the road there was an issue with it stalling an apparently smoke coming from the spark plug hole. he has decided to get the car running again so we tried to get it going tonight.
basically what happened was we dropped the oil out, put fresh petrol in, put some oil into the cylinders to get the pistols lube, and then cranked it without the plugs in to get the oil pressure going.
now as we gave it spark, the engine was cracking but I noticed a bit of white smoke coming out of the intake. figured that maybe some oil had built up because of the pvc valve so took it all off and gave it all a good clean.
cranked it again with the pvc value removed and white smoke was billowing out again.
then checked the dipstick and the same think some smoke came out of there.
From what im thinking is that the oil is trapped up in the cylinder head and not circulating though the engine into the sump.
just wanting to gauge some thoughts on what some toymodders think or if you have any advice as to what I could do to get the thing going.
Smoke coming out the intake manifold could be an inlet valve stuck open. It is quite common for valves to stick open on an engine that has not been run for a long time. Sometimes you can free a stuck valve by removing the valve spring and attaching the chuck of a drill to the top of the valve so you can turn it and work a bit of oil into the valve guide to free it up.
Smoke coming out the dipstick tube could be either leaking rings or a cracked or burn't piston
