I no its an obviouse question but what fuel are u using ???
That will cause Pinging
cheers nick
I have put a 2JZGTE in a Hiace SBV and due to the 2500kg's it has on it's back, it tends to ping a lot. When I tow my Race Car, going up a hill it pings its tits off. Is there any solution to this?

What ECU is running it, OEM or aftermarket?
OEM ECU if wired like it left the factory is supposed to pull timing when it detects pinging until it stops pinging.
Aftermarket ECU needs a retune if it allows pinging.
GSE20 IS250 - daily
UZZ30 Soarer - 1UZ-FE/R154/Adaptronic - trackday roughie
UZZ32 Soarer - Active Hydropneumatic Suspension (A-SUS) & Active Four Wheel Steering (A-4WS) - cruiser
Factory ecu, it seems the knock sensors don't allow for such a load on the motor.
try to add more fuel, or reduce the boost pressure?
MX83 2JZ-GTE!!
#YOLO.
How can I adjust the timing or make the knock sensors retard more timing?
check the air temp sensor is working properly.
based on its output, the ecu may also pull timing if intake temps are high.
there may be an option there fudge its output (put a pot in parallel or series?) a little to pull some timing.
im not sure how much the IAT sensor will influence fuel but this is something to keep in mind if you start playing with things.
another option is to try some octane booster.
hello
manifold air temps will affect timing/fueling significantly
where is the temp sensor? (should be in plenum)
Where ever the standard air temp sensor is.
How much boost are you running? A 2JZ should almost never ping with a stock ECU I ran up to 25 psi and have never heard a ping. I would be checking everything like fuel pressure, sensors, AFRs etc.
Is there sufficient airflow to the intercooler?
Somewhere on supra forums a few were complaining about there VVTi ,s pinging , It seems to be the nature of the VVti 2jz-gte from what i read .
Dave
It's not a VVTi 2JZGTE cambelt, just a normal 2JZGTE.
The intercooler is quite small, but people have run 2JZGTE's with no intercoolers without issue....
I'd be checking the AFR's (I can't remember if you had a WBO2?)
Cheers
Wilbo
Fixed the pinging by installing a Greddy E manage piggy back and had it dynoed. What a hoot, watching my ladenned van doing 170kph on the dyno. Stopped the pinging and picked up 35hp over 4000rpm.
I now have an issue with loosing boost after the 2nd turbo kicks in, it drops down to 5lb. My son and I have been sifting through all the info in toymods. Actuator or solenoid, we'll sort it eventually.
