There is a possibility I may be in Melbourne, mid to late January, to pick up a new project. If timing works to my favour, I'd be up for this, as part of my return journey with new project - would appreciate being kept informed of dates and times too please?!?

    What about:

    1. Meeting at Birregurra (or Winchelsea Roadhouse for those not confident to self-navigate to anywhere less major than Pincess Highway )

    2. then doing the run over the mountain to Skeenes Creek to warm everyone up,

    3. then back on the GOR to Lorne, stop for lunch (Stu's got teh connections@!!@!!oneone)

    4. then from there I think there's a route from the GOR about five kays on the Melbourne side of Lorne which goes back over the mountain again and back to the highway at Winchelsea.

Stu, can you pm me your specific routes?

thats one of the quick and easys - probably one of the more fun ones too ..

Re driving like grandma's - Yain - i wouldnt take anyone on these roads thinking that its going to be an all out race - they are dangerous - usually wet , and as of this weekend - still quite unpredictable - a 2 tonne boulder fell from the cliffs onto the GOR last weekend ... on a very blind corner known as " devils elbow "

SS-I - Ill grab the local roadmaps out and see if i can get you the road names and PM them on - but your suggestions a good one - biggergurra is a good start - i was born there or in colac for those needing a topup for fuel ( as premuim inst available on the coast ) its only 30 mins in and out from birregurra ..
Birregurra is only 1 turn off the highway - from the right intersection .. basically straight after the railway crossing on the princes hwy ( the only one between melb and colac ) you turn left - viola - follow that road - your in Birre

Winch has premuim i think - but not say shell optimax types

ive had 1 family member - 2 friends and 3 associates killed in this area - so i respect the roads ALOT - if i lead - it will be done at a fun , but not hammering pace .. anyone else that wants that can either a : go in front of me - or B - dont bother coming

Yeah, Birregurra isn't a hard find if you can follow directions. Some can't.

Looking forward to that route plan.

How's that one corner coming down off the mountain towards Barramunga with like 20 degree incline, 10 deg camber, and 300 degrees total deflection?

And which corner is that where the boulder fell?

I've done GOR twice - leisurely is cool - it gives you time to see everything, and you go with the flow at that pace too. Personally, I'm not up for a fang with people whose driving skills I'm unsure of, and a car I've only just bought too!

I don't mind fanging with people who I don't know, so long as they're not close enough to involve me in their mishaps!

On another note, is anyone organising this, or is this idle chat at this stage? Haven't heard from the thread starter in a while.

No date has been set though i like the route youve laid out SSI

maybe an early feb/late jan date at the earliest - maybe to coninside to when clint is over

the local show and shine is runnign a small cruise on the 22nd locally thru the hills to lorne - its going to be uber leisurely

on the 28th one of the local cruise clubs wants a run to apollo bay or somewhere there which might also be an option - but the hoon factor may be there - the guys going on it are unknown factors

re cruising ina group - especially on these roads - i take it easy with newcomersor people who havent been down much because it WILL kill brakes - and will catch you unawares if you dont know what your doing - and push things too hard

Not everyone has 300MM brakes, awd and super calipers either to help in the stop and handling factor either so by me going a lilllte deeper than say a stock ta22 goes in - i may be running the other person at a risk ..

These are a few of the thigns i think of when planning any meet down here .. Drive and have fun - but find that fun limit - and take 2 steps back - that ends you up in a fun and safe pace for just about everyone

on a side note if i was to take you guys down - id really just prefer it as US ( as in TCCA dudes and toymodders ) - not any outsiders - smaller groups = more chance to see stuff you wouldnt otherwise see

Clint - got a rouggh idea when you might be over ?

At this stage, I'm still only a possibility, other factors are still having too much leverage on my decision. Having said that - if everything falls into place, I'd be looking at being in Melbourne for the weekends of February 4/5th and 11/12th - with the latter being my preference at the moment - also gives you guys decent lead in time to organise too.

feb would be favourable for me as well - especially if i can help out clint in some respect down this way - also gives me time to get the car all nicely ran in and ready - I have testing to do in those hills for a few days to umm .. " bed in the new stoppers " - thats what we'll call it anyway

My presence is looking favourable at the moment. Stu, feel like a navigator/free loader if this run takes place? the car I'm interested in isn't really a tourer as such, so I'll happily bum a lift?! there are also a few Vic Toymodders I'd like to catch up with - feel like a bit of a social get together if I do make it over?

Clint - your welcome to run shotgun int he gt4 - its probably the safest place to be

And im happy for anyone coming down this way - thats why i said for clints trip over id prefer to be us and the TCCA// classic celica guys say tops - the other clubs are multi brand and there will be faces we wouldnt know -

least with the lot there - everyone can put names and faces to familiar net logins

all we need is a positive date clint and ill start talking with those keen to organise something

ill also try to organise a table at the lorne pub for us for lunch
