Do you have a multimeter or a voltmeter? you need o check to see if you are getting power to the starter solenoid,Several other questions need answering , does it have an imobilser? is the battery fully charged? What sort of car is it?

certainly sounds like the starter motor to me!
firstly I would test that the starter has 12 volts across the terminals - obviously no power would cause some insufficiencies! - then assuming there is power, try shorting the starter motor from the positive terminal to the starter solenoid to make sure there isn't a wiring issue, and that the starter works and is connected to the power!
that may help you find the problem.

Do the instrument cluster lights come on?, charge, oil etc etc?,

For a starter not even to make a clicking noise, the battery is disconnected or the cable from the battery is disconnected or the ignition wire to the starter ( the smallest one connected to the starter) as others have said.

Stupid question, are the battery terminals connected and the earth cable

If the motor isnt turning the injectors wont tick.

Have you disconnected or played around with any wiring in the solenoid/fuse box's in the engine bay.

Are you Sketra from TOCAU? If so, oh dear...
The above opinion is just that - my opinion. It is not shared by any business that I am currently or have previously been involved with, nor any of their employee's.

I suggest, that its proberly best that you take your Soarer down to your local garage to check it out for an hour or so, and find out what the problem is that way man.
