    Default 1G-GTE Injector Pulse 2 Banks V 3 Banks

Wanted to get some feedback about the 1G-GTE ECU and the fact it only has two injector banks.

Is this hindering the performance of the 1G?.

One option would be to extend the 2 banks to 3 banks?

The problem I can see with only 2 banks is there will be three spays of fuel before the valves open to draw in the charge; the first two of these spays will be based on older data readings & only the last spray will be based on current reading’
I think this will only be a problem under hard accelerating and will cause the first two spays to be lean, to combat this lean out the ECU could be programmed to supply extra fuel on rapid acceleration.

At least with 3 injector banks the fuel will not be sitting in the intake for to long before the valves open; plus the data used to calculate the pulse width will not be that old.

The reason I ask; it may be possible to add the 3rd bank to the standard ECU.

    My thoughts

I'd be very surprised if you could even notice the difference at high RPM where the duration between injection events is very small.

It might improve idle imperceptibly, where the duration between events is larger...

One good way to test this idea would be to get a 2JZGTE as they have 6 injectors drivers from factory. You could then wire the injectors to 6 x 1, 3 x 2, 2 x 3 and 1 x 6 with external transistors and see measure the performance difference...

    My thoughts

fwiw: there's guys running v12's on a msEFI ECU that has just 2 injector drivers.

At high rpm, you wouldn't notice it and if your ECU has good timing resolution at low rpm and short injector duration, the idle improvements would be minimal and mostly observable in the zorst (via the O2 sensor)
